HellermannTyton Data has launched its brand new iD Active hardware, the Intelligent Infrastructure Management (IIM) solution which accompanies its existing iD software offering. The complete package adds genuine scaleable control and flexibility for the network engineer who wants to log their actions, have instant access to information regarding their ports and immediate updates on work being carried out on their system by fellow engineers. This all in one software-hardware package is deemed most effective, as it not only equips the engineer with an easy to use handheld Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), giving instant visibility and control over the network, but connectivity is automatically recorded by continuous monitoring of patch panel ports by the iD Active hardware. Additionally, any Moves, Adds and Changes (MACs) to the network are logged on the device, by scanning the barcodes on each component. This information is recorded with the PDA as and when it occurs. The iD Active products automate the port-to-port connectivity records and updates the central database as any changes happens. Work orders and changes can be configured then delegated to engineers via the PDA’s.
