Faulty cables cause downtime
Thursday, 09 August 2007 00:00

HellermannTyton Data says that 70% of network downtime is caused by faulty cabling.

HellermanTyton Technical Director, Jason James commented,  “The proficiency of the cabling infrastructure – whether copper or fibre – is directly reliant on an effective administration system with clear and logical labelling being essential for proper maintenance,” explained James.

These records form the basis of system moves, adds and changes (MACs) and can ensure compliance with stringent regulations such as Sarbanes Oxley.”

“In order to eliminate some of these huge downtime costs, businesses need better records and to manage every inch of their network infrastructure, updating records the moment any changes occur,” concluded James. “This will remove the propensity for human error and allow rapid auditing and the ability to fix problems quicker and more effectively in the future.”
