ntl:Telewest Business, part of Virgin Media, has supplied high speed data connectivity to Business Continuity Centres, part of Onyx Group, the North East’s leading technology solutions company, for its new Workplace Recovery Centre in the Team Valley, Gateshead.
The Workplace Recovery Centre has been built at a cost of £2 million, creating 10 new jobs, and is the North East region’s largest business continuity centre. The centre will extend Onyx Group’s workplace recovery facilities in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and on Teesside. ntl:Telewest Business has supplied a high speed fibre connection to link the new Workplace Recovery Centre in the Team Valley with Onyx Group’s Databanx hosting facility on Tyneside. This operates in conjunction with other connections to ensure that the Workplace Recovery Centre would continue to operate in the event of a connection failing. The ntl:Telewest data connection is a high bandwidth connection which will copy data from a customer’s back-up server at the hosting facility in the event of a disaster. This means that companies taking services in the Workplace Recovery Centre do not have to set-up their own IT network as they can just access their servers using this existing infrastructure. “Regardless of the nature or size of an organisation Onyx Group now has the resources, expertise and infrastructure required to provide a complete data compliance solution. The data link from ntl:Telewest Business ensures that customers can access their critical data quickly and seamlessly,” said Neil Stephenson, CEO, Onyx Group.
