The responsible bodies from ISO/IEC and EIA/TIA have recently approved two new standards for cabling. The new ISO/IEC standard 11801 ed. 2002 adm. 1 Class EA specifies higher performance than the EIA/TIA 568B.2-10 Cat. 6A standard, which was also just released. The Swiss cabling specialist Reichle & De-Massari has released information for planners and installers, as well as a current statement at www.rdm.com.
The requirements of the ISO/IEC 11801 ed. 2002 adm. 1 Class EA are especially demanding. They exceed the channel requirements according to EIA/TIA 568B.2-10 Cat. 6A, as well as the requirements of IEEE 802.3an (10GB/s Ethernet) and ISO/IEC TR 24750. The ISO/IEC standard offers the user more margin and therefore higher operational reliability.
