Applications continue to cost PDF Print E-mail
Research commissioned by Ipanema Technologies reveals that application performance problems are costing UK enterprises more than £500,000 per year due mainly to reduced productivity, lost sales, and diminished customer confidence.  Organisations of 1000 or more employees were polled, and one in ten reported poor application performance costs them approximately £2 million or more per year.  The figures reported were particularly high in the financial services sector, where 40% of respondents reported annual losses of £1 million or more from application problems.
Nigel Pink, Vice President and General Manager for the UK and Ireland, Ipanema said, “It’s astounding that businesses are losing so much money due to application performance issues and still just throwing bandwidth at the problem, even though they know it doesn’t fix it.  Often problems occur because traffic peaks at certain times, causing congestion and so end-users experience poor performance on some business-critical applications.  Simply continuing to increase bandwidth is neither a cost-effective nor forward-thinking way of coping with the pressure of more traffic.  Instead businesses need to have visibility of the network and the ability to react in real-time, managing traffic in response to changes in the network environment and demand from users.”
