APC by Schneider Electric has added a new tool to its website, designed to provide an online efficiency audit for those running datacentres or involved in datacentre design and management. The new tool provides fact-based ratings of current datacentre efficiency levels, recommendations for improvement and free access to APC resources including White Papers, other tools and key elements of The Efficient Enterprise.

An Efficiency Quotient is produced based on the answers to 18 multiple choice questions grouped around datacentre infrastructure, IT equipment and approaches to efficiency. To get an accurate output, users will need access to information such as percentage usage of datacentre power, age of UPS, system design and cooling methods in use.
