Survey suggests hosting problems
Monday, 05 November 2007 01:00

Smartbunker has announced the results of an independent survey of 400 SMB IT decision makers. When asked by market research company, Vanson Bourne, whether their organisation struggled to provide the IT infrastructure necessary to host business critical applications, 37% of respondents admitted to difficulties.

The survey showed that as an SMB grows in size, application hosting becomes more problematic. Of companies with less than 50 employees, 26% admitted difficulties. However, of companies with between 500 and 999 employees, 44% admitted to problems.

Kelly Smith, managing director at Smartbunker, commented, "Provisioning a server to provide acceptable application delivery to an increasingly demanding and de-centralised work force is a highly skilled task. As an SMB gets larger, hosting applications becomes even more difficult as the number and complexity of applications increase. This survey shows that a significant number of SMBs are encountering service delivery issues when they attempt to provision a service in-house."
