IT managers can make direct cost and efficiency savings in their data centres while meeting the latest EU voluntary code on ‘green’ data centre operations, through a new health check service from on365. The new service draws on the broad operational guidelines set out by the new EU code called the “Code of Conduct on Data Centres Energy Efficiency,” to offer data centre managers an overview of the their data centre’s efficiency and how costs and energy demands can be cut by thousands of pounds annually through short and longer term changes depending on the situation. Chris Smith, on365’s marketing director, said: “Government and business alike want to cut operational costs and manage down their data centres’ use of costly resources. So far, they have been held back by the lack of practical advice, the absence of industry benchmarking for data centres’ operations and the often complex relationships between the different parties – centre owners, FM companies and so on - involved in operating data centre infrastructures. “Our new service draws on our infrastructure management expertise and the performance benchmarking in the EU code, to show the vital adjustments that government and business must make to save money and reduce carbon emissions while demonstrating those efficiencies to their chief executive or the board.”
