Tier three centre launched
Monday, 10 November 2008 17:04
Viatel has opened a new high-powered data centre in Reading, Berkshire. The ‘tier three’ data centre offers 600KW to 200 racks (16amps per rack), providing customers with the power to adopt the latest technology, whilst featuring metered billing, allowing customers to ‘pay-per-KWH’ so that they only pay for the power that they use. This is the fifth addition to Viatel’s UK data centre portfolio, with existing sites in Bracknell, Egham and London.
“Businesses today need high-power, high specification data centre facilities for the newest applications and storage,” said Alastair Buck, co-location product director, Viatel. “However, with many data centre cabinets capped at ten amps, businesses have been held back from implementing technologies that require more power. In addition, many companies are tightening their budgets during the economic downturn, which is why we have introduced the “pay-per-KWH” scheme. This way, companies can manage their costs during difficult times.”
