Eaton Power Quality has achieved excellent results in its environmental programme launched two years ago at Helsinki Plant Operations, Finland.

The company reduced water and energy consumption by over one-third, and doubled the recycling of waste. Significant reductions in the use of energy and water were made possible by the unique UPS technology taken into use by Eaton in 2004. 

“The improvements are based primarily on Eaton’s best-of-breed UPS technology. One of the features in testing UPS is that the system allows electricity from the mains current to be fed back into the mains following power loading. This is a unique feature worldwide. It means that several hours lasting testing only consumes electricity equal to the efficiency of the device,” said Pekka Antikainen, Plant Manager, Eaton Power Quality.
