Server solution launched
Monday, 09 February 2009 00:00

Server hosting company Melbourne is launching its virtual server solution in December after successful beta trials earlier in the year.

The new virtualisation service will offer improved speed, better reliability and greater power efficiency for business users.
Melbourne has already invested over £100,000 to bring the technology to market this year.  It hopes to recoup the outlay within a year.  The Manchester Technopark business, which owns its own dedicated server facility, will be able to substantially expand on the same number of servers.

Daniel Foster managing director of Melbourne comments: “The benefits in terms of continuity, utilisation and conservation of energy are going to be attractive to prospective and current clients that wish to move over.”

Foster continues: “We believe virtualisation will become the default option in the server market as the technology evolves and becomes more familiar.  However, it is still early days and the market will have to be educated on its potential.  We are hopeful that there will be a 50% uptake over the next two years.”
